FLYGT Pump Spare Parts Mechanical Seal – Spare Parts Range & Service Solutions

About Dongguan HydroBlue Co., Ltd.

A mechanical seal in a submersible pump operates under conditions that a top-side pump never encounters: continuous immersion in the pumped fluid, exposure to solids settling at the bottom of a wet well, and thermal cycling every time the pump starts and stops. Getting the seal selection right for that environment requires both application knowledge and sourcing reach. DONGGUAN HydroBlue's eight-person technical group covers pump hydraulics, material science, and electrical drive systems, allowing us to evaluate seal failures from the system level rather than simply swapping the worn part. Joint development activities with Jiangsu University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Guangdong University of Technology support our work on hard-face materials, elastomer compatibility, and corrosion-resistant coatings for submerged service.

Our Brands & Services

Our product offering goes beyond individual seals to cover the full range of components and systems that a pump maintenance programme requires. A typical FLYGT submersible pump overhaul, for example, calls for a mechanical seal cartridge, stator and rotor O-rings, cable entry seals, bearing sets, and often a frequency drive if the control strategy is being upgraded. Coordinating these from a single source simplifies procurement logistics and reduces the risk of incompatible parts arriving on site. Our supply portfolio includes centrifugal pump spares, adjustable-speed drives, servo positioning controllers, HMI and PLC panels, motor control centres, electric motors in submersible and dry-installation configurations, mechanical seal cartridges and support systems, flexible shaft couplings, and gear reduction units. Field engineering support is available for overseas projects: 3D laser scanning of worn pump internals for reverse engineering, and on-site commissioning after the replacement seal or rotor assembly is fitted.

Send the FLYGT pump model number or the seal reference stamped on the old component — we will identify the correct replacement seal and provide a quotation with material options and delivery terms.

Product Overview

The mechanical seal in a FLYGT submersible pump sits between the wet end (impeller side) and the motor section, preventing the pumped liquid from travelling up the shaft into the stator housing. FLYGT submersibles typically use a tandem seal arrangement: a primary seal facing the pump volute handles the process fluid, while a secondary seal on the motor side acts as a backup. The cavity between the two seals is filled with barrier fluid (often water/glycol mix or oil), and in some models a GAMMA seal or lip seal deflector provides additional protection against solids ingress.

Seal failure in a submersible pump often presents as reduced insulation resistance in the motor (water ingress detected by the monitoring system), oil emulsification in the seal housing, or visible leakage at the service drain plug. The root causes vary: abrasive particles trapped between the seal faces cause rapid face wear; elastomer degradation from chemical attack or heat ageing leads to secondary seal leakage; dry running (the pump runs out of water while the seal is still turning) creates thermal shock that cracks the rotating face. Each failure pattern points to a different solution — a harder face material (silicon carbide vs. carbon), a different elastomer compound (FKM vs. EPDM), or a seal housing design that better flushes solids away from the face interface. Our replacement seals are selected or manufactured to address the specific failure mode identified on your pump.

Seal Face Material Selection

Rotating Face

Stationary Face

Typical Application

Carbon (resin-impregnated)

Ceramic (alumina 99.5%)

Clean water, general drainage — standard duty, economical

Carbon (antimony-impregnated)

Tungsten carbide (Ni binder)

Abrasive water, sand & silt content — improved wear resistance

Silicon carbide (SiC)

Silicon carbide (SiC)

Seawater, brackish water, chemical process — maximum hardness and chemical resistance

Silicon carbide (SiC)

Carbon (antimony-impregnated)

Dry-running risk applications — SiC on carbon tolerates brief loss of fluid film

Spare Parts Range

The components listed below cover the seal and sealing-system parts commonly replaced during a FLYGT submersible pump service. The table includes the typical service interval for each group.

Group

Parts

Typical Replacement Interval

Seal Cartridge & Deflector

Mechanical seal complete, GAMMA seal & deflector, Packing seal, Isolator, Dynamic seal service kit

Every 4,000–8,000 operating hours or when insulation resistance drops below 1 MΩ

Rotating Group

Shaft, Impeller, Expeller, Side plate, Labyrinth ring

Every 8,000–12,000 hours or when pump performance drops by 10%

Housing & Structural

Pump casing, Casing cover, Bearing cover

As needed — typically when casting erosion or corrosion affects pressure retention

Service Assemblies

Exchange unit assembly, Bearing unit service kit

Pre-assembled for scheduled major overhauls every 2–3 years

Ancillaries

Vent device, Oil breath, Seal water equipment SWE, Cable entry seals, O-ring sets

Each service — O-rings and gaskets replaced as a set during seal changeout

Packing & Transport

Mechanical seals are precision assemblies with lapped faces that can be damaged by vibration, impact, or moisture during transit. The packing routine addresses these risks:

  • Individual Protective Wrapping — Each seal assembly is enclosed in anti-static foam within its own box; seal faces are pre-loaded with a light spring force to prevent face separation during handling
  • Moisture Barrier — The inner box is sealed in a polyethylene bag with desiccant; stainless steel or Hastelloy components receive an additional VCI wrap for extended storage
  • Master Carton — Single or multiple seal packs are consolidated into a corrugated carton with internal dividers, labelled as precision equipment
  • Wooden Crate for Sea Freight — Large-quantity orders are packed in ISPM 15-certified plywood crates with foam cushioning and internal strapping to prevent movement
  • Custom Marking — Customer-specific part numbers, inspection stamps, and serialisation are applied if required by the purchase order

Lead Time: Stock seal sizes: 3–7 working days. Custom sizes or non-standard materials: 30 days after deposit.

Transport: Express (door-to-door, 3–7 days), Air freight (5–10 days to major airports), Sea freight (15–45 days by LCL or FCL), Land freight (cross-border trucking or rail).

Payment: 70% T/T deposit, balance against copy of B/L. L/C, D/P, PayPal, Western Union accepted for smaller amounts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Are you a factory or a trading company?

A: We operate as an integrated engineering and supply organisation focused on fluid machinery spare parts. Our sourcing channel for mechanical seals includes manufacturers that are audited for dimensional accuracy, face flatness, and material traceability.

Q2: What payment methods do you accept?

A: T/T (preferred), L/C at sight, D/P, PayPal, Western Union. For small-value orders (under USD 500) we can accept payment via credit card or Wise transfer.

Q3: How is the seal packaged for shipment?

A: Each seal is individually foam-packed inside a cardboard box with desiccant, then consolidated into an export carton or plywood crate depending on quantity and shipping mode.

Q4: What is the typical delivery time?

A: Stock seal sizes: 3–7 working days. Custom orders based on FLYGT drawing cross-reference: 30 days after deposit. Larger quantities may require 45–60 days depending on face material availability.

Q5: What is the minimum order quantity?

A: Minimum order is 1 seal assembly. For custom-manufactured seals the minimum is 2–5 pieces per size, depending on the face material combination and the complexity of the seal housing adaptation.

Q6: What warranty do you offer?

A: 12 months from commissioning or 18 months from the shipment date, whichever expires first. The warranty covers manufacturing defects including face flatness deviation, elastomer compound mismatch, and dimensional non-conformance.
